PRESENTERS


Dr Sharad P Paul graduated in 1988 and completed residencies in General/Plastic Surgery between 1990 and 1995. His surgical training included work at Hutt and Middlemore Hospitals in NZ, and overseas. His major clinical interests are in management of skin cancers and facial reconstruction following removal of skin cancers. He has a strong commitment to teaching and is a Course Convenor at the Surgical Skills Training Centre, University of Auckland. He is a visiting Senior Lecturer in the Primary Skin Cancer Dept. of the University of Queensland and Hon. Senior Lecturer (Surgery) at the University of Auckland. Dr Sharad P Paul was instrumental in developing the Waitemata Health Skin Lesion service, based at North Shore Hospital and is at present a visiting Consultant at North Shore and Waitakere Hospitals. In 2001, Dr Sharad P Paul was requested by the Ministry of Health to draft the New Zealand Guidelines for Skin Lesion Management. These guidelines were ratified by the Dermatology and Plastic surgical working parties and form the basis of the current NZ Guidelines for Skin Lesion Management. In 2002, he was awarded a Waitemata Clinical Achievement Award for outstanding clinical achievement. In 2003, he was awarded a Health Innovation Award by the Ministry of Health.
